Kerr Avionics Raises $160,000 From Oregon BEST

Wilsonville, Oregon-based Kerr Avionics, a startup commercializing research from Oregon Tech to help pilots "see" through dense fog, has receveid $160,000 in an early stage investment from nonprofit startup support group Oregon BEST, the two said today. According to the two, Oregon BEST is helping Kerr Avionics develop technology which uses a video camera, synced with LED lights on the ground, which makes fog-obscured lights visible to pilots even in dense fog. Kerr Avionics also said its technology can be used for helicopter pilots to locate lost hikers in wilderness areas or survivors of natural disasters, and similar applications. Kerr Avionics is led by Dick Kerr, who previously was Vice President and CTO of FLIR Systems, and co-founder and CTO of Max-Viz.
