Microsoft, JVC Ink Patent Cross-Licensing Deal

Computing heavyweight Microsoft Corp. reported Tuesday that it and the Victor Company of Japan Ltd.—better known as electronics manufacturer JVC—have signed a patent cross-licensing agreement. According to Microsoft, the deal will help both companies further the development of their current and future product lines. The agreement, Microsoft noted, covers a broad range of consumer products that each company manufactures and sells. The specific details of the transaction, including the financial impact, were not disclosed. However, Microsoft said JVC is providing some manner of compensation.
