    Microsoft, LGE Ink Patent-Licensing Deal

Software giant Microsoft Corp. and electronics manufacturer LG Electronics Inc. announced Wednesday that they have signed a patent cross-license agreement they believe will help develop their current and future product lines. According to the agreement, LGE can use Microsoft-patented technologies in the development and manufacture of LGE's products, including its Linux-based embedded devices. In turn, Microsoft can access LGE's patents and will license other LGE-developed patents that business solutions provider MicroConnect Group currently owns. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but the parties did reveal that Microsoft will make a net balance payment to LGE and MicroConnect for operating systems- and computer systems-related patents.
