    Microsoft, Samsung In Patent Agreement


    Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft and Samsung Electronics Co. said today that they are in a broad patent cross-licensing agreement. The two said that Samsung will obtain access to Microsoft's patents in the area of computer products, set-top boxes, digital media players, camcorders, televisions, printers and home appliances. Samsung will grant Microsoft access to its portfolio of digital media and computer-related inventions for its existing and future products. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The companies also disclosed that as part of the deal, Samsung will also obtain coverage from Microsoft for its Linux-based products.
