Microsoft Dangles Free Migration Tools For Windows XP

If you haven't gotten the message yet, Microsoft Corp. is continuing the drumbeat: it's completely ending support for its Windows XP operating system on April 8th. To that end, it said this morning that it will provide a free copy of a Laplink data migration tool, PCmover Express for Windows XP, to help user move their system to a new device running Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1. Microsoft also said it has started desktop updates which tell Windows XP users--through a pop up dialog-- that support is ending for Windows XP. Microsoft is looking to stave off a potential security disaster as its completely ends security updates for XP; it's hoping that users will migrate to more modern versions of its OS.
