Microsoft Launching Startup Accelerator In Israel

Software giant Microsoft is getting set to launch its own, startup accelerator soon in Israel, according to reports this morning. Israeli business publication Globes reports that Microsoft is setting up a Windows Azure Accelerator in that country, located at Microsoft's Herzliya R&D center. It appears that Microsoft is planning a four month accelerator program to help startups in the cloud computing, Internet, and mobile areas. The accelerator appears to be modeled after the successful YCombinator and TechStars programs here in the United States, which is now being replicated by dozens and dozens of groups both here domestically as well as overseas.
