Microsoft Licenses Digital Camera Technology to Japanese Firm

Computing heavyweight Microsoft Corp. revealed Wednesday that it has licensed its digital camera calibration technology to Japan's FAST Corp. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Microsoft said the collaboration represents the first time its research arm, Microsoft Research, has licensed its intellectual property to a Japanese company. Microsoft explained that FAST intends to use the licensed technology to enhance the precision of its image-processing products and to speed up development of inspection systems. FAST Corp. is based in Yamato, Kanagawa prefecture.
