Microsoft, Packeteer Produce WAN IT Tool
Wide-area networking specialist Packeteer announced Monday that it has joined forces with software giant Microsoft Corp. to deliver a Windows-based branch office IT application. Called the Packeteer iShaper, the new product is designed to make computing faster, more secure and more cost effective for employees in branch office locations, Packeteer said. The company added that iShaper will be available later this quarter, with subsequent versions appearing in Q4 of this year. In developing iShaper, the companies said they blended Packeteer’s Wide Area Network optimization techniques with various Microsoft technologies, including Windows Server and System Management Server. Microsoft is headquartered in Redmond, Wash. Packeteer is based in Cupertino, Calif.
