Microsoft: Windows 8.1, Office 365 An Easy Transition

Microsoft is continuing its drumbeat of announcements around the end-of-life of Windows XP, the company's venerable--but highly outdated--operating system. The company today said that Windows 8.1 and Office 365 are an "easy transition" for current Windows XP users, saying that users ought to upgrade before April 8th--when Microsoft is completely cutting off support for Windows XP and Office 2003. Microsoft said the new OS and Office will "look and feel a little different" but are "designed for how we work today". The company's sunset on upgrades to the software--including all security patches--is threatening to unleash massive security issues for users who are caught unaware that their old desktop PC--is now open to easy hacking and compromise.
