RealNetworks In Patent Win
Seattle-based RealNetworks said today that it has scored a legal win over a firm which had filed a patent infringement lawsuit against the firm. According to RealNetworks, the Federal Circuit in Washington, DC., upheld a 2007 ruling which invalidated the patent claims of San Francisco-based Friskit, Inc. Friskit was looking for damages of more than $70M in the patent lawsuit. RealNetworks said that the ruling was a win for RealNetworks and also one for companies who "find themselves the targets of frivolous suits." RealNetworks was represented by Quinn, Emmanuel, Urquhart, Oliver & Hedges, LLP in the lawsuit.
