Amazon Rolls Out Payment Service
Seattle-based Amazon.com has launched a new effort to woo developers to use its Flexible Payments Service (FPS), the firm said today, with a new set of APIs and an offer to provide free payment processing. According to Amazon.com's Amazon Payment subsidiary, it has simplified its application programming interface (API) which allows developers to accept payments from Amazon customers, and will offer developers free payment processing for 90 days or until transaction volume reaches $500,000. Amazon's FPS links into Amazon.com's payment infrastructure--including using the same login credentials as Amazon.com--to make it easier for web sites to accept such things as Checkout by Amazon, Amazon Simply Pay and Amazon Flexible Payments Services.
