Microsoft Buys Rosetta Biosoftware

Microsoft
announced Monday that the firm has signed an agreement with biotech giant Merck & Co., to acquire Rosetta Biosoftware, a developer of genetic data management software. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. According to Microsoft, it will incorporate Rosetta Biosoftware's products into its Microsoft Amalga Life Sciences platform. The deal also calls for Merck to become a customer of Microsoft.
