Amazon.com has released its Kindle for Android app, the firm announced Monday, available as a free application from the Android Market. Amazon had said in May that it would be releasing the app sometime this summer, but had not previously given a release target. The new Kindle app provides access to Amazon's Kindle bookstore, as well as synchronization features, browsing, and both landscape and portrait mode. Missing from the new app is the ability to actually purchase Kindle books from within the app, and full text search.
