Amazon Cuts Off Illinois Affiliates
Amazon.com
has cut off its affiliates in Illinois, after Illinois Governor Pat Quinn signed a bill which requires Internet retailers like Amazon.com to collects the state's sales tax, if they have any affiliates in the state. The move--part of a multi-front battle Amazon.com is waging against states looking to shore up their shaky finances--follows a recent closing of an Amazon.com distribution center in Texas, and similar affiliate cuts in Colorado, North Carolina, and Rhode Island due to similar bills. The law affects more than Amazon.com, but Amazon has been the main target of the multitude of bills due to its dominance in the online retail industry.
