Amazon To Launch Library Lending Program
Seattle-based Amazon.com said this morning that it is planning to its customer "borrow" Kindle books from over 11,00 libraries. Amazon said its Kindle Library Lending program will work for all Kindle devices and reading apps, and will allow users to check out Kindle books from local libraries. Among elements of the program is the ability to maintain bookmarks and customer annotations on those books, when those books are checked out again or purchased by a user. Amazon said it is working with OverDrive, a provider of digital content solutions for libraries, on the effort. Amazon said the new library book program will be available later this year.
