Amazon Web Services said Tuesday that it has launched a new, dedicated region of its cloud specifically for the United States Government. According to Amazon, its new
AWS GovCloud is a new, dedicated AWS region aimed at U.S. government agencies and contractors. Amazon said that the new dedicated cloud only allows "U.S. persons" to access the cloud, one of the requirements of working with U.S. government agencies, which specify that its computer systems by physically and logically accessible to U.S. persons only. The new region gives the government access to services such as Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, and Amazon VPC.
