Amazon Announces Kindle Fire, Drops Kindle Pricing
Seattle-based Amazon announced its new tablet this morning, the Kindle Fire, and also has dramatically dropped the pricing on the Kindle with a new line of Kindle products. Amazon said its Kindle Fire will cost $199, runs Android applications, and includes a new web browser called Amazon Silk, which splits processing on the Kindle Fire between the device and Amazon's own cloud services. In addition to the Kindle Fire, Amazon launched a $79 kindle, a touch-screen enabled Kindle called the Kindle Touch for $99, and an accompanying 3G version called the Kindle Touch 3G for $149.
