Seattle-based Amazon.com is continuing to build out its extensive network of fulfillment centers, saying today that it is planning to open a new, 1.0 million square foot fulfillment center in Middletown, Delaware. The firm said it plans to invest over $90M into the center, which it says will create 850 full time jobs. The new center will be the second in Delaware for the company. Amazon will be getting $3.47M from the Delaware Economic Development Office as part of the new center, and $4M will awarded from the Delaware New Jobs Infrastructure Fund to build new roads to serve thr project. Amazon opened up its first fulfillment center in that state fourteen years ago.
