Elemental Technologies announced this morning that it will be helping to power the broadcast coverage of the 2012 Olympic Games in London, after signing a number of international broadcasters with rights to the Games. Elemental did not name the broadcasters or financial impact of the win, but did say it has signed deals to provide its equipment to broadcasters in the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, and more than a dozen countries in Latin America. Elemental's hardware is used to transcode video formats between one format to another, at high speed. Elemental's hardware makes it easier to present video across multiple formats, such as websites, mobile apps, connected TVs, and other formats.
