Amazon Web Services Launches Cloud Software Marketplace
Looking to launch a cloud-based version of your favorite database software or development stack on Amazon Web Services? Amazon is looking to make it easier for users to deploy common infrastructure software to the AWS cloud, through a new offering, the AWS Marketplace, the company said today. Amazon's new marketplace allows users to launch pre-configured software products from such providers as IBM, Microsoft, SAP AG, Check Point Software, Wordpress, and others. Amazon said the new marketplace provides "1-click" ability to configure and launch cloud-based version of a number of software products, which are then sold to users on a basis of usage. The marketplace shortcuts what can be a fairly involved process of installing and configuring software to run in the Amazon cloud.
