Amazon Cloud Outage Hits Popular Websites
Another outage over at Amazon Web Services briefly took down popular web sites like Quora, Dropbox, Pinterest, Hipchat, and others Thursday evening, after power issues at Amazon's Northern Virginia data center. The outage--which started around 8:50 p.m. PT--was fully recovered by 3:26 AM PT, according to the AWS status page. Amazon's various cloud services power a massive number of web-based services and startups, and even brief, partial outages of Amazon's Web Services are now affecting millions of users via the many web services operating from AWS.
