New Site Rates, Profiles Lawyers

Seattle-based startup Avvo launched a Web site Tuesday that allows consumers to rate and find lawyers. The firm said that the site profiles every lawyer in nine U.S. states and the District of Columbia, and that the site is the first of its kind to help consumers find the right lawyers for their needs. The core of the company's new service is its "Avvo Rating" which assesses how well the company thinks a lawyer could represent a client--based on its own proprietary mathematical model. The new site currently covers lawyers in Arizona, California, Georgia, Illinois, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Washington.
