![]() Friday, June 20, 2008 Getty Images Shareholders Okay Deal Seattle-based Getty Images said Friday that its shareholders have approved the firm's merger with private equity firm Hellman & Friedman LLC. According to Getty Images, its stock holders will receive $34.00 in cash for each share of Getty Images common stock at the effectiveness of the merger. The firm said that it now expects the transaction to close on June 30th. Hirsch was most recently the firm's President, and replaces Bill Gossman, who remains on the firm's board of directors. Hirsch has previously served at valueClick and Fastclick, and was founder of Xymox Systems. Costa as CEO of the firm. Costa succeeds founder John Fallou. Costa joins the company from Perlego Systems, where he was president and CEO. Costa has also served at Active Voice, Mentor Graphics, Intel Corp., OrCAD and ProTools. According to Dogpile.com, the canine-themed new widget--which it has called "Arfie"--runs as a desktop widget and will help users access Dogpile's metasearch service from their desktop. According to the firm, the new widget's major features include playing with an animated dog named Arfie, who will romp around their desktop and can be "pet" by the user.
