    PopCap Expands In Asia
    Seattle-based PopCap Games said Tuesday that the firm has expanded in the Asia/Pacific region, and appointed a new VP in Shanghai. PopCap, which develops casual video games, said that James Gwertzman has been promoted to VP of Asia/Pacific, and will direct its operations from Shanghai. According to PopCap, the firm's Shanghai office will feature a development team including developers, artists, business development executives, and other staffers focused on creating new games specifically for Asi (More info...)

    Amazon.com's Bezos Invests In Twitter
    Amazon.com's Jeff Bezos is the latest investor in Internet communications firm Twitter, according to the company, as the much-watched firm announced its latest funding round in a blog post. San Franscisco-based Twitter, which runs a popular instant-messaging service, said that it raised a round which included Spark Capital and Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos' and his investment firm, Bezos Expeditions. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

    Teltone Acquired By Industrial Defender
    Bothell, Washington-based Teltone, a provider of telecommunications equipment, has been acquired by Massachusetts-based Industrial Defender. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Teltone provides security products for the industrial control and SCADA market, used for securing access to equipment over telephone lines; the hardware is primarily used by the electric power industry for controlling electric substations.

    Seattle Tops High Tech Cities List
    Seattle has topped the list of companies with the largest high tech job growth in the nation for 2006, according to a recently released report from the AeA technology trade association. According to the Cybercities 2008 report released today by the group, Seattle added 7,800 jobs for a total of 127,700 high tech employees in 2006, the largest job growth in the nation. The report--which uses 2006 jobs data, the latest available--to rank the top cities with high tech employment, ranked Seattle 9th (More info...)

    Smilebox Debuts Photo-Sharing Software for Mac
    Photo-sharing software publisher Smilebox Inc. unveiled its Smilebox for Mac application today. Smilebox said the new application, which supports Mac OS X Leopard and OS X Tiger, grants Mac users an easy way to share their photos and videos. The Redmond, Wash.-based company noted that Smilebox integrates with iPhoto and iTunes to simplify image importing—users may even drag and drop media from one application to another.
