    Escapia Raises $1.6M
    Seattle-based Escapia has raised $1.6M in a round of funding, the firm said this week, for the firm's web-based vacation rental management and marketing products. The funding was led by Steven D. Murch, Buerk Dale Victor, and Atlas Accelerator, all existing investors. Escapia provides software which helps vacation rental agencies manage vacation rental homes, including managing web sites, tracking reservations, managing accounting, and more.

    Microsoft Jumps into Energy Monitoring
    Microsoft Corp. said Wednesday that it has create a new, online application for helping consumers understand their energy usage, Microsoft Hohm.     Visible Revs Social Media Monitoring Software
    Seattle-based Visible Technologies reports today that it has released a new version of its social media monitoring software, TruCast 2.8, which will allow its users to filter information in the service by country. The firm's service allows companies and brands to gauge the opinion of their products and service on the web. Visible Technologies is venture backed by Ignition Partners and WPP.

    Spacelabs Sells Clinical Trials Services Division
    Issaquah, Wash.-based Spacelabs Healthcare has sold its Clinical Trials Services division to Medifacts International Inc. of Rockville, Md., Medifacts announced this morning. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Spacelabs is an international developer, manufacturer and distributor of medical equipment and services.     1Cast Hires Sales VP
    Kirkland-based 1Cast, a broadcast news and information service for desktop and mobile computer users, reported this morning that it has hired Jack Hallahan as vice president of global advertising sales.     Microsoft Releases Beta Of Free Security Tool
    Microsoft has released a beta of a free, consumer focused security tool called Microsoft Security Essentials, which replaces the firm's paid Windows Live OneCare service. The beta--which apparently has already reached maximum capacity for participants--will provide anti-malware and antivirus capability for free to consumers.     Isilon Partners With Storage Compression Firm
    Seattle-based Isilon Systems, a developer of network attached storage products, said yesterday that the firm has partnered with storage software firm Storwize. According to the firms, they have integrated a storage solution based on Isilon's NAs products and Storwize's STN-600 appliance, which compresses data stored on systems in real time.
