According to Maveron, Partner Amy Errett is leading the new San Francisco office, which will also included a new principal, Ben Choi. Maveron's Errett said that the new office will focus on "identifying sectors where web-enabled services can disrupt and disintermediate the existing marketplace." The firm said its new office reflects "dramatic growth" and an increasing focus on the Bay Area. Jive said it expects that 15-20% of its staff will be located in Palo Alto by the end of the year, including its CEO, Dave Hersh. According to NanoString, the collaboration includes the investigation of molecular networks involved in immune response and other biological processes. The deal includes use of NanoString's nCounter Analysis System by the Broad Institute, and custom work by NanoString to focus on gene signatures identified by Broad investors.
