    Intellectual Ventures Buys Patent Portfolio
    Bellevue-based Intellectual Ventures, the patent acquisition firm run by former Microsoft CTO Nathan Myhrvold, has acquired the patent portfolio of Avistar Communications. The deal was announced earlier this week. According to Avistar, it sold the majority of its patent portfolio in a deal worth $11M in cash. Avistar is a developer of desktop videoconferencing technology. Avistar said it has licensed back its patents as part of the deal.

    Vendaria Media Names CEO
    Seattle-based Vendaria Media, a provider of digital marketing services, said Wednesday that it has appointed Jennifer Hurshell as CEO. Hurshell joins the firm from GoGo Images, a provider of stock photography, and had also served at Marketfish, Corbis, and Volkswagen AG. Vendaria is a producer of rich media and creative services, and counts Bosch, LG, Jarden Consumer Solutions, Best Buy, Staples, and others as clients.

    Zumobi Links With Phil Mickelson On iPhone Golf App
    Seattle-based Zumobi, a publisher of mobile applications, has linked up with golf pro Phil Mickelson on a new title for the iPhone and iPod Touch. According to Zumobi, its new Phil Mickelson: Secrets of the Short Game iPhone app debuted today, and was created by the firm and Jastrow Productions. Details on the deal between Mickelson and Zumobi were not announced. The game is a followup to a DVD published under the same name by Jastrow Productions, and offers golf lessons and (More info...)

    Daticon Names VP
    Kirkland-based Daticon Electronic Evidence Discovery, a provider of electronic discovery services, said today that it has named William (Bill) Derrick as its Vice President of Client Experience. Derrick has previously served at such firms as LexisNexis Applied Discovery, Getty Images, Global Market Insite (GMI), Corixa Corporation, and Wall Data. Daticon said that Derrick has more than 20 years of leadership experience.

    Concur's Singh Joins Voyager Capital
    Seattle-based venture capital firm Voyager Capital announced this morning that it has added Steve Singh, Chairman and CEo of Concur, to its advisory board. According to Voyager, Singh will provide his experience and track record to its portfolio companies. Voyager manages $370M, and also has offices in Portland and Menlo Park, California.
