Northwest Energy Angels Invests $880,000 In Nine Firms

The Northwest Energy Angels, the energy focused, organized angel investment group, said this week that it has invested $880,000 across nine cleantech companies during 2011, as part of its efforts to help build a vibrant cleantech community in the region.

The angel group said that it made new investments in Bangyan Energy, a developer of photovoltaic module technology; BioVantage Resources, working on bioremediation products for the wastewater treatment industry; Columbia Power Technology, working on wave energy systems; Fluxdrive, a manufacturer of adjustable speed drives; One Energy Renewables, a developer of wind and solar projects; Virticus, a lighting control system manufacturer, and WISErg Corporation, developing technology to convert compostable organic waste into biogas.

The Northwest Energy Angels also said it has made a follow on investment in REV Technologies, Inc., which is developing technology to synchronize the charging to electric vehicles with the power grid. The group said it has now looked at over 117 companies, making 31 first time investments out of that batch of companies, since 2006.
