Seattle-based cloud infrastructure automation software firm Opscode is in a big, international expansion, saying today that it has launched operations in both Europe and Japan. Opscode said that it already has nearly 50 European commercial customers, and has opened up operations in the United Kingdom, overseen by Andy Hawkins. Europe represented more than 25 percent of the company's registered users in its Chef community, according to Opscode. In Japan, Opscode said it has partnered with IT services provider Creationline to distribute Private Chef and provide education, training, support, and services in Japan. Opscode's software are used for automating cloud software deployment.
