Pellucere Technologies, With Offices in Oregon, Finds Funding For Solar Coatings

Pellecure Technologies, and Oregon State University startup which develops anti-reflective coatings for the solar energy market, said on Monday that it has secured a "major investment" from Energy Innovation Capital (EIC). The company--which has offices in Corvallis, but is based in Houston, Texas--says its coatings increase the energy output of solar modules by more than 4 percent. Size of the funding round was not announced. Pellucere says its anti-reflective, anti-soiling coatings--called MoreSun--is used on glass solar panels, and both increases solar production as well as helps reduce dirt and dust accumulation. The company said that field trials show its coating increased solar power production by up to 4.9 percent, and reduced dirt and dust by more than 90 percent. The company said the funding will go towards full scale, commercial deployment of its product to the utility-scale solar market. The company says its coatings are based on research from Oregon State University with support from the National Science Foundation, the Oregon Nanoscience and Microtechnologies Institute (ONAMI), and VertueLab, a climate impact accelerator located in Oregon.
