PopCap Launches New Label

Seattle-based PopCap Games, the developer of casual games, said today that it has launched a new "experimental label" called 4th & Battery. The firm said the label--named after the intersection of its offices--will create smaller, simpler, and "edgier" games. PopCap said the new label will allow its designers to "accommodate all of the creativity pumping through our collective veins", which will allow those designers to bypass its "long and involved" standard game development process. The first title, Unpleasant Horse, is aimed at "mature" audiences, and focuses on throwing horses into a "perpetual meat grinder".
