    RealNetworks Buys Casual Gaming Firm


    Seattle-based RealNetworks said today that it has purchased Trymedia, the casual gaming business of Macrovision. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. According to RealNetworks, it has acquired substantially all of Trymedia's assets in a deal which is expected to close this quarter. Trymedia develops distribution technology for casual games. According to Real, the acquisition is part of a strategy to build reach through syndicated partnerships with other firms; Trymedia has relationships with what Real said are more than 250 partners, including AOL, Yahoo!, Telstra, IGN, and T-Online.
