RealNetworks Claims Casual Gaming Users Opt For Ads

Seattle-based RealNetworks said today that more than four million casual game players have downloaded streaming video, ad-enabled games from the firm's Real games sites since June. RealNetworks said that the downloads have yielded more than 40 million video ad impressions to date. RealNetworks has been developing ad-enabled games which provide users with unlimited free game play, in exchange for accepting advertising every 20 minutes within the firm's casual games. Players can opt out of the advertising by purchasing the casual games outright.
