Saber Holdings Acquired By EDS For $420M

Information technology consulting firm EDS has agreed to acquire Saber Holdings Inc., a Portland, Ore.-based publisher of software for state and local governments, EDS announced Tuesday. The Plano, Texas-based company said it will pay Saber's various owners, including majority shareholder Accel-KKR, some $420 million in cash, for the firm. EDS said that the transaction is subject to federal approval and is expected to close before the year's end. Saber is a provider of a wide range of software for local and federal government, including software for managing public retirement systems, elections, human resources, and other government functions.
