SEOmoz Raises $18M

Seattle-based SEOmoz, the provider of search engine optimization tools and services headed by Rand Fishkin, has raised $18M in a venture financing. The round came from Foundry Group and Ignition Partners. As part of the funding, Brad Feld from Foundry Group joins the company's board. Co-founder Gillian Muessig has left the company to "pursue new goals". The new funding comes nearly 10 months after a highly documented, abortive funding attempt by the company in August of 2011. In an extensive blog post documenting the process, Fishkin said that SEOmoz had a pre-money valuation of $75M, approximately 4.1X times its revenue run rate at the time of the deal, with Ignition contributing $3M to the deal, and Foundry investing $15M.
