Softbank To Pay $20.1B For Sprint Nextel

Japan's Softbank Corp. confirmed this morning that it will pay $20.1 billion to buy up to 70 percent of Sprint Nextel, which owns most of Bellevue-based >Clearwire. The firm said the buy will give it entry into the U.S. market, including ability to build out its own 4G network in the U.S. market. Clearwire is a key part of those plans, and has been building out a new LTE network for Sprint for its 4G expansion.
