Spaceflight Sees Successful Satellite Launch In India

Seattle-based satellite launch provider Spaceflight said this week that it has successfully launched twelve, small satellites, in a launch through India's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV). Spaceflight said the 12 "Planet Dove" satellites, which were designed in the U.S., brings the total to 81 satellites that it has negotiated for its customers. The company said it has contracts to deploy more than 150 satellites through 2018. Spaceflight handles all of the logistics of delivering micro- and small-satellites to market, through launch partners. This last satellite launch--which occured on Wednesday--was an additional payload on top of a non-Spaceflight satellite, the Cartosat-2C. The "Planet Dove" satellites are CubeSats developed by Planet Labs in San Francisco, and are used for earth imaging applications.
