SpinSpotter Casts Eye On Media Bias

Seattle-based SpinSpotter launched a new service today at the DEMOfall conference, saying that it will allow users to "see, share, and edit any clear sign of bias anywhere on the web." The firm said that its online service is focused on finding bias and inaccuracy in "any news story" online. According to the company, the firm's browser toolbar will identify instances of bias and inaccuracy in online media, including lifted press releases, unattributed adjectives, opinions stated as facts, or conflicts of interest. The firm's founder is Todd Herman, who has served at MSNBC.com and Microsoft; SpinSpotter's CEO is John Atcheson, who has previously served at RealNetworks.
