Starbucks Starts Wireless Charging Rollout

Seattle-based coffee retailer Starbucks has started rolling out wireless charging across its stores, starting with its location in the San Francisco Bay Area. According to Starbucks, it has begun offering up wireless charging in approximately 200 stores in the Bay Area, the first step in a plan to offer wireless charging throughout the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Starbucks said the wider rollout comes after pilot tests over the past two years. Starbucks is using wireless charging technology from Powermat, which allows a wide range of devices to charge by being placed over specific "Powermat Spots" on tables and counters. Starbucks will also sell adapters for non-Powermat compatible devices.
