Skytap Rolls Out Virtual Lab Service

Seattle-based Skytap has rolled out its virtualization and cloud computing services today, as the firm has finally revealed what it is working on. Skytap said it will provide customers with cloud-based services for allowing customers to take advantage of virtualization. The firm's first product, Skytap Virtual Lab, provides virtual lab automation for software development and test teams. According to Skytap, the firm's product will allow teams to provision lab infrastructure on demand, and will help automate set-up, testing, and tear down of complex environments. The new service is targeted at independent software vendors, systems integrators, and test outsourcing firms. Skytap--which has also changed its name from illumita--is venture backed by Madrona Venture Group, Ignition Partners, Bezos Expeditions, and Washington Research Foundation Capital.
