    Mentor Signs NXP Semiconductors

Wilsonville, Oregon-based Mentor Graphics, a developer of semiconductor design tools, said earlier this week that it has partnered with NXP Semiconductors on sharing design tools. NXP Semiconconductors is a Philips NV spinoff which develops semiconductors for the mobile phone, consumer electronics, and other industries. According to Mentor, the firm's design-for-test (DFT) products will be used by NXP Semiconductors; Mentor Graphics will also obtain rights to NXP's internally developed test tools and technology, and will add a portion of NXP's DFT tools development organization to the firm. Mentor said it is establishing a new R&D facility in Hamburg as part of the partnership. Financial terms were not disclosed.
