JanRain Teams On Security Verification Feature

Portland, Oregon-based JanRain, a developer of software for the OpenID, open source user authentication standard, said this morning that it has teamed with Positive Networks. According to the firms, the two have worked together to create CallVerifID, a two-factor authentication product for phones. The service uses a phone call to verify users using the myOpenID service. OpenID is a standard that allows users to create a single logon for multiple web sites and applications--using only one password and username to access any web sites supporting the standard. The new security offering uses a telephone call--in addition to usernames and a password--to authorize logins to OpenID enabled sites, as an added security feature.
