    Amazon AWS Extends Into Asia

Seattle-based Amazon Web Services, the web services arm of Amazon.com, said today that the firm is planning an expansion of its services into the Asia-Pacific region in the first half of 2010. Amazon said it will provide compute and storage resources in close proximity to end users in the region, based on operations in Singapore. The services will include Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), Amazon SimpleDB, Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS), Amazon Simple Queue Service (Amazon SQS), Amazon Elastic MapReduce, and Amazon CloudFront. Amazon said it would disclose pricing on the Amazon Web Services in Asia next year when it launches.
