Microsoft Buys Apptimum

Redmond-based Microsoft has acquired Apptimum, a provider of software for transfering data between computers. Terms were not disclosed. Apptimum is the developer of the Alohabob PC Relocator products, which are used by consumers to transfer applications between computers. Microsoft said that it will use the intellectual property and technology assets from Apptimum to provide customers of Microsoft Windows with the tools they need to simplify the transfer of their applications to their new computers. The software firm said that it expects that Apptimum technology will be incorporated into Microsoft Vista products as an optional download. Apptimum was formerly known as Eisenworld.
