Report: Comcast Buys ThePlatform
Online blog Paidcontent.org is reporting that Comcast has purchased Seattle-based ThePlatform, a provider of software used to distribute online video and audio content over the Internet. ThePlatform is backed by venture capital firm Spark Capital, and counts National Geographic, CNBC, ABC, and others as customers. According to Rafat Ali at Paidcontent, the deal was worth somewhere north of $80M. The company has received around $8M in funding from Spark. Neither Comcast nor ThePlatform have released any details on the acquisition.
