Isilon Awarded Patent

Seattle-based Isilon Systems announced this week that the firm has been granted a U.S. Patent. The patent, number 7,146,524, is entitled "Systems and methods for providing a distributed file system incorporating a virtual hot spare." The firm said that the patent covers a core data protection feature of its operating system software. According to the firm's patent filing, the patent was granted to Sujal Patel, Paul Mikesell, Darren Schack, and Aaron Passey, and was originally filed in October of 2002. The grant date was December 5, 2006. Isilon is a provider of clustered storage software for the data storage market.
