RealNetworks Cuts 130 Employees

Seattle-based RealNetworks has cut 130 employees, or approximately 7.5 percent of the firm's employees, the firm said Thursday in a filing with the SEC. The firm said that the moves were made to reduce operating costs in light of slowing consumer and business spending. RealNetworks said it also eliminated about 30 contract personnel and consultants at the firm. The company did not specify specific office cuts, but said that the cuts were across most of its global facilities and functions.
