Amazon.com: Record Breaking Holiday Season

Seattle-based Amazon.com is reporting today that it had the "best ever" holiday season for the firm. According to Amazon.com, it had over 6.3 million items ordered on December 15th, its peak day, or 72.9 items per second. Among tidbits from the firm: it sold enough coffee on its Amazon Grocery store to give each resident of Seattle a cup per day for two months; the number of Coldplay CDs sold would stretch from Seattle to London and halfway back; and it sold enough Spalding basketballs to fill three C-130 cargo planes. Other popular items were LCD HDTVs, Nintendo Wii video games and hardware; Razor scooters; J.K. Rowling's "The Tales of Beedle the Bard" and the CD "Fearless" by Taylor Swift. Among the dozens of other top sellers ranked by the firm, undoubtedly driven by the winter weather: a Toro electric snow thrower.
