Microsoft Powering Mayo Clinic's New Online Service

The Mayo Clinic, the renowned non-profit group medical practice, revealed Tuesday that it has launched a free online service that will allow people to store medical information and receive personal health guidance. Mayo said the service, called the Mayo Clinic Health Manager, is powered by computing and technology giant Microsoft Corp.'s HealthVault platform. The clinic explained that the online service will extend the capabilities of traditional personal health records by using an individual's health information to generate customized recommendations, which that individual can use to better manage their and their family's health. Microsoft's HealthVault platform collects and stores personal health records that would otherwise be scattered among unrelated archives. The Mayo Clinic is based in Rochester, Minn.
