Microsoft Discontinues Money Plus

Software giant Microsoft is informing its customers that it will discontinue Microsoft Money Plus, the firm's personal finance package, as of June 30th. According to Microsoft, in a notice posted for its customers, the firm has decided that it will no longer offer Microsoft Money Plus, its premium version of its financial product, after June 30th. The firm said the the change came as a result of banks, brokerage firms, and web sites offering a range of options for managing personal finances. The move comes after Microsoft suspended updates of the software last year. Microsoft developed money 17 years ago as a competitor to Intuit's popular personal finance software, Quicken; recently, both packages have faced still competition from new, web-based personal finance offerings like Mint and Wesabe.
